“One Church, One Team, One Goal”
By Desiree Donn P. Maglanoc
Seven Mission Centers. Seven different spots. One church, One team, One goal.
For the past years, the Missions Department of Davao City Alliance Gospel Church has been reaching out to our fellow brothers and sisters in remote areas to share with them the Good News of salvation and to aid in their spiritual growth. At present, we have five Ministry Centers and two Mission Centers.
Our five Ministry Centers are Dumanlas, Agdao, Chinatown, Dolo and Skyline. These are our new centers (except for Dolo and Dumanlas which started 3 years ago) and they have been doing the ministry work for a couple of months now. The attendance of these centers are growing each Sunday so we must pray for their present needs. These needs include having their own permanent place of worship, more volunteer workers for the ministry work and provision for their spiritual and financial desires.
In addition, we also have our two Mission Centers namely Salumay and Kibalang. These centers are far from the city (at least 2 hours travel from the city proper) and they need our utmost attention. Although Salumay is already developing in terms of place, workers and attendance, the Kibalang center is still struggling especially in their parsonage (where the pastor is staying) and the place of worship because the roof has holes and every time it rains, it gives them a very difficult time for cleaning up and maintenance. Not only that, but they also need prayers for the cooperation of the members so that they may grow in number.
Visiting these centers made me realize one thing – that we are far more blessed than these brothers and sisters of ours. We are very fortunate that we do not experience conducting prayer meetings with an attendance of only two members, we do not experience having to feel anxious and troubled every time it rains, we do not experience having to rent a place every Sunday just to conduct our worship service, we do not experience having problems with electricity and water connections, and most importantly we do not experience having problems with workers who willingly give themselves for the Lord.
Having said these things, I now challenge you to give what you can give. To walk an extra mile if you are able to do so for them. To go where no one has dared to go yet. To add a few more minutes to your prayer to God for these centers. To open your eyes to the realities in the mission field. To listen to the silent cries of our brothers and sisters and to offer your time, your effort, yourself for the countless souls in the world that still hunger, thirst, seek, and wait for salvation to come.
